Terry Law Group: Fighting to End Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect
The victims of poor care, neglect and abuse in Arkansas nursing homes are often called "silent victims", but the
Terry Law Group, is determined to give elderly victims a voice. Our attorneys have successfully battled local, regional and national nursing homes and nursing home corporations on behalf of our elderly clients and their families. Our
success record combined with our personal touch, can make a difference.
Let the Terry Law Group be your voiceAfter all they've done for us, our parents and grandparents deserve the very best. Nursing homes are supposed to provide care for our elders in their final years; however, more than forty percent of Arkansas nursing homes are rated
below and well below average by Medicare. When nursing homes compromise quality in the name of profit and convenience, our loved ones suffer. Inadequate care can affect a person's dignity, physical health, mental well-being and has even lead to
wrongful death.
Residents of long term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living centers and residential care facilities are guaranteed a safe environment and quality care as part of their contract. In Arkansas, their
rights include help with daily life activities such as eating, bathing, grooming, toileting and medical care. Both federal and Arkansas elder laws make it illegal for nursing homes to neglect their residents by not providing this care, or to create an environment where residents can be abused, neglected or exploited.

According to the recently filed lawsuit, between January 2008 and May 2008, the four teenage nursing assistants are accused of striking residents' breasts, poking residents' breasts, pinching residents' nipples, inserting fingers in residents' mouths until they screamed, rubbing residents' crotches, inserting a finger into a residents' rectum, exposing their bare buttocks, sitting with their bare buttocks on the lap of a senior resident, spitting on a resident, squirting water at a resident, and simulating sexual activity with a resident. The lawsuit states, "The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society's systemic failure to exercise proper supervision and control over the conduct of its teenage employees resulted in the six month pattern of abuse of the vulnerable adults at Good Samaritan Society-Albert Lea".
